The retro/kitsch lover in me made sure that I tuned into ABC’s new television series PAN AM, a meld of “Desperate Housewives” meets “Mad Men” featuring an ensemble of brash , strong minded women set against the 1960’s culture backdrop, and after watching the first episode, I have to say that things are looking good!

Going in, I expected Pan Am to be a soap opera styled show set up in the sky, and while there are a few storyline along those lines (with one girl becoming a stewardess to escape from her wedding day or the woman finding out her lover is married), I was happily surprised to find that one of the main plots deals with Secret Covert Agent Espionage stuff, truly stuff of the James Bond-Get-Smart-Man-From-UNCLE sixties!!

And the GIRLS! Holy cow, what a bunch of beauties they’ve got for this one- Christina Ricci, and Kelli Garner as smart and savvy girls Maggie and Kate, Margot Robbie as the sweet and naïve Laura, Annabelle Wallis as sultry Secret Agent Bridget, and MAN, I’m just head over heels for pretty French Canadian actress Karine Vanasse’s SUPER SEXY character Colette!

Can’t wait til this show really finds its footing and takes off running! I’m so intrigued by where they’re going to take all of these characters! With the look and feel of the show, if ABC can give this thing time to grow, we should have a great series on our hands!

BTW, adorable Kelli Garner paid a visit to the Mark and Brian show the other day and I have to say, she was SO SWEET! And as a side note, I have to say that there were several times during the show that she reminded me ever so slightly of alt songstress Tanya Donelly, and from ME, that's a compliment!
