Planetary Vol.1-4

Re-reading the Warren Ellis/John Cassaday Wildstorm series for the first time since initially getting them for Christmas from Gerg. Didn't really grab me the first time, hoping this time will do the trick.

Desolation Jones: Made in England

Reading Desolation Jones again for the umpteenth time. Man I love this book. Such a cryin' shame that Warren Ellis baled on this one after (thankfully) completing this first story arc "Made in England".
As I re-read this again, I consciously tried to pin down what I love about this comic so much, and you know what, it comes down to the characters. I LOVE the characters here, especially Jones' relationship with Emily, the chemically-altered Special Agent who got operated on to produce alluring pheromones but instead with a botched trait which gave off an aura of near-revulsion instead.
No man or woman can stand to be near her, and so it is Jones alone who can endure her company and be there for her when her loneliness becomes unbearable. Very touching.

Desolation Jones: Made In England

Just felt like re-reading the excellent Warren Ellis/JH Williams TPB Desolation Jones: Made in England again. Man, this is such a great comic, such a shame they dropped the strip after this arc. Still, at least it's kind of a contained story that you can read and enjoy without worrying about it having a huge unresolved ending.

The Authority, Vol.1-3

The series that reinstated my belief that comics COULD be good again! By the time my friend Gerg handed me The Authority, I was already a bitter, jaded comic book reader who thought that most of the new comics stuff was mere flash written by high schoolers, but WOW this series just blew me the HELL away!
